Toulouse Coaches with a Driver
Toulouse gives coaches more room than most cities: they may use bus lanes, and there are several large coach parks. The tight spot is the Place du Capitole, where the rules are exact.
The Capitole is for hotel service
Hotel service is the one reason a tourist coach may enter the Place du Capitole. The vehicle must measure 10 m or less, the hotel is warned beforehand, and the driver comes in on rue de Rémusat and exits on rue Gambetta.
For a sightseeing stop, use an official set-down point instead: allées Jean-Jaurès at place d'Arménie, boulevard Lascrosses, Cours Dillon via the Pont Neuf, or allées Paul-Sabatier. Stops last only as long as strictly needed.

Where the coach waits
Coaches may use ordinary bus lanes but not roads reserved solely for buses. Four places take coaches for parking: rue Raymond-Badiou by the Zénith (a 24-hour maximum stay), the Île du Ramier (08:00 to 20:00, not during events there), the guarded coach station beside Matabiau (booking required) and the Centre Routier de Fondeyre, with 144 spaces and open at all hours.

Rules for coaches in Toulouse
- Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS) is about 11 km by road from Place du Capitole, about 20-25 min in light traffic and longer at peak times. The airport's quick drop-off and express car parks have a 2.75 m height limit, too low for a coach; car park P6 has no height limit.
- Toulouse has had a low-emission zone (ZFE) since 1 March 2022. It covers the city inside the rocade (ring road) and small parts of Colomiers and Tournefeuille, and applies 24 hours a day, every day, to driving and parking.
- In the Toulouse ZFE, vehicles with a Crit'Air 4 or 5 sticker, or no sticker, are banned. For coaches and heavy vehicles this bars petrol vehicles registered before 1 October 2001 and diesel vehicles registered before 1 October 2009. The planned ban on Crit'Air 3 vehicles was suspended. A 2026 law that would have abolished the ZFEs was struck out on this point by the Conseil constitutionnel on 21 May 2026, and the Métropole confirms the zone is maintained. These rules are current in October 2026 and Parliament may change them again; check them before travel.
- Official coach set-down and pick-up points include 29 allées Jean-Jaurès (place d'Arménie), 15 boulevard Lascrosses, Cours Dillon (entered by the Pont Neuf), 21 allées Paul-Sabatier, boulevard Riquet, 58 allées Charles-de-Fitte, rue Robert-Champeaux and avenue Léon Blum near Jolimont metro. Stops must last only as long as strictly needed.
- Place du Capitole is closed to tourist coaches except to serve its hotels: coaches must be 10 m long or less, the hotel must be told in advance, and the route is in by rue de Rémusat and out by rue Gambetta.
- Tourist coaches may use bus lanes but not the separate roads reserved for buses. Coach parking: the Zénith coach park on rue Raymond-Badiou (24 hours at most), the Île du Ramier (08:00-20:00, not during events on the island), the gare routière next to Matabiau station (guarded, booking required) and the Centre Routier de Fondeyre (open 24 hours, 144 spaces).
- Gare de Toulouse Matabiau: the main station, with TGV trains from Paris and Bordeaux; the coach station (gare routière) next to it is entered from boulevard Pierre-Semard.
- The périphérique around Toulouse is free. The A61 (towards Carcassonne and Narbonne), the A62 (towards Bordeaux) and the A68 (towards Albi) are tolled motorways; the A64 (towards Tarbes and Lourdes) has free sections near Toulouse and tolled sections further west.
- EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest. Long round trips, such as to Lourdes or Rocamadour, are planned within these limits.
The low-emission zone
The ZFE covers the city inside the rocade plus small parts of Colomiers and Tournefeuille, at all hours. Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles are banned. For coaches, that excludes petrol models registered before 1 October 2001 and diesel ones before 1 October 2009. Plans to add Crit'Air 3 were suspended. The Métropole confirms the zone stays; the law could still shift, so get the sticker confirmed.
Aircraft, space and day trips
Factory tours with Let's Visit Airbus in Blagnac must be booked, and each person must show a passport or identity card that is in date, so gather everyone's documents well before the day. At Aeroscopia, guided groups run from 10 to 25 people and must be reserved. The Cité de l'espace has a large free car park.
Albi or Moissac: roughly an hour each. Carcassonne: about 1 hour 15. Lourdes and Rocamadour are about 2 hours each way by car, and more by coach. That is a full day: fix the departure from the venue before the group sets out.
Organisers ask
Can the coach pull into Blagnac's drop-off car park?
No. At Toulouse-Blagnac both the quick drop-off and the express car parks stop vehicles above 2.75 m; P6 is the car park without a height barrier. From the airport to Place du Capitole is about 11 km, so 20 to 25 minutes when roads are clear.
When can groups see the Couvent des Jacobins?
Only on Thursdays, which the convent reserves for pre-booked guided groups. Plan the rest of the week around other sights.
Which motorways are tolled?
The A61 to Carcassonne, the A62 to Bordeaux and the A68 to Albi. The périphérique is free, and the A64 towards Lourdes is free near Toulouse and tolled further west.
