Montpellier-Méditerranée coach transfers: planning around the car park rules
Montpellier-Méditerranée has no published coach point, and its public car parks do not take coaches. The meeting place is agreed in advance with the operator.
What the airport allows
The public car parks take only vehicles with at most 8 passenger seats and under 3.5 t. Coaches and larger minibuses cannot use them. The drop-off zone in front of the terminal is for private individuals, and professional or commercial use of it is strictly forbidden.
So the operator confirms the stopping point for the coach before the day. Share it with the group leader, and have someone walk the group to it.

Small groups
A group of up to eight can travel in a car or van with driver. A VTC must be booked in advance, and the driver must be able to show the booking. Bigger groups need a minibus or coach, and the coach point applies.
Where the coach collects the group
- The airport does not publish a coach pick-up point. Cars with driver (VTC) can hold an annual airport VTC card; the airport does not publish a VTC waiting zone, and professional or commercial use of the drop-off zone is strictly forbidden.
Coach parking and access
- The airport does not publish a coach park or coach waiting rules. The public car parks take only vehicles with at most 8 passenger seats and under 3.5 t, so coaches and larger minibuses cannot use them.
Road to the city centre
- about 10 km by road to Place de la Comédie, about 15 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Into Montpellier
The Place de la Comédie is about 10 km away, roughly 15 minutes with light traffic. The métropole's low-emission zone applies at all hours, and every vehicle in it needs a Crit'Air sticker. Its January 2025 guide bans coaches only if they are diesel vehicles first registered up to 31 December 2013. The zone was planned to extend to all 31 communes from 1 July 2026, so check the current rules.
In the centre, the tourist office lists three set-down and pick-up points, each with room for one coach: rue de la Spirale, boulevard d'Antigone and rue Pagézy near the station. For parking, it lists the Parking du Père Louis in Port Marianne.
Fairs and traffic
During the Foire internationale de Montpellier at the Parc des Expositions in Pérols, traffic near the airport is heavy. Allow extra time for a transfer on those days.
Organisers ask
Where will the coach meet us?
At a point the operator confirms before the day, since the airport publishes none. Pass it to the group leader with the driver's name.
Is there a rail link?
Shuttle line 620 runs to Montpellier Sud de France station in about 25 minutes, and tram 1 continues to the centre. With bags, a coach is easier.
Can the coach go on to Carcassonne?
Yes. Carcassonne's Cité is about 150 km from Montpellier by road, about 1 h 40. Coaches use the Cité's coach parks with the shuttle.
