Aix-en-Provence Coach Hire for Groups
Aix is a walking town with no low-emission zone. The coach drops the group at the edge of the old centre; the real planning lies in museum group sizes and the days out into Provence.
Where the coach sets down
Pedestrian streets fill the centre ancien, which is why drops happen at its edge. The usual place is the coach area behind the Aix Centre bus station: follow boulevard Victor Coq to its end, by the roundabout. Give the group that as its meeting point for the return.

Group sizes decide the day
The museums set firm limits. The Atelier de Cézanne needs booking, takes at most 20 people and wants at least 15 for leisure groups. The Hôtel de Caumont requires a booking from 15 people. The Musée Granet takes groups of up to 25, guide included.
A coach group of 45 therefore splits into two or three. Stagger the time slots, give each sub-group a leader, and fix one pickup time for everyone.

Rules for coaches in Aix-en-Provence
- Aéroport Marseille Provence (MRS) is about 27 km by road from the centre of Aix-en-Provence, about 30 min in light traffic and longer at peak times.
- Aix-en-Provence has no low-emission zone (ZFE) in October 2026; the only ZFE-m in the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence is in central Marseille. During air-pollution episodes the préfecture can order differentiated traffic based on Crit'Air stickers, so coaches and minibuses should carry one. Check the rules before travel.
- The old town (centre ancien) has many pedestrian streets, so groups are set down on its edge. The Gare routière Aix Centre has a coach drop-off area behind the bus station, at the end of boulevard Victor Coq by the roundabout.
- Gare d'Aix-en-Provence TGV: about 13 km from the city centre, on the high-speed line with TGV trains from Paris, Lyon and Lille.
- Gare d'Aix-en-Provence centre: in the city centre, served by regional trains from Marseille.
- Aix-en-Provence is served by the A8 (towards Nice and the Côte d'Azur), the A51 (towards Marseille and the Alps) and, via the A8, the A7 (towards Avignon and Lyon); the A8 and the A7 have tolled sections.
- EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest.
Crit'Air without a zone
There is no ZFE in Aix. Within the Aix-Marseille-Provence Métropole, central Marseille has the only one. During pollution episodes the préfecture can impose differentiated traffic based on Crit'Air stickers, so the coach should carry one. It matters more if the day continues to Marseille, where the centre is closed to Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles.
Luberon, Valensole and the Verdon
Lourmarin is about 40 minutes away and Gordes about 1 hour 15. The Plateau de Valensole takes about an hour, with lavender from June to July. The Gorges du Verdon at Moustiers-Sainte-Marie are about 1 hour 30 by car; mountain roads slow a coach further.
The A8 and A7 have tolled sections, and the A51 heads towards Marseille and the Alps.
