Nice Côte d'Azur coach transfers: coach stations, permits and hotel stops
Nice airport gives tourist coaches a coach station at each terminal. Access is controlled, so the coach you book must come from an operator the airport has cleared.
How a pick-up works
Each terminal has its own coach station, open day and night, with bays kept for tourist coaches. The driver's badge is read at the entry kiosk, and the company must hold its transport licences. On arrival the coach station manager allocates a bay.
A coach may stay at most one hour, engine off, with the driver beside it. If the bays are full, coaches wait in an overflow area at the entrance of the Terminal 2 coach station. For an event that needs several coaches at once, that area can be reserved.

Departures and congress groups
The coach stations are for picking up. For departures, coaches normally set down on the controlled kerbside lanes in front of each terminal. The public drop-off zones are for private cars only.
For a congress or other one-off movement, the vehicles apply to the airport at least 48 hours ahead to set down at the kerb. No parking is allowed there. Book early enough for that request to go in.
Where the coach collects the group
- Each terminal has its own coach station (gare routière Terminal 1 and gare routière Terminal 2) with bays reserved for tourist coaches, open around the clock. Access is controlled and needs the airport's prior authorisation: the driver's badge is read at the entry kiosk and the company must hold its transport licences. The coach station manager allocates a bay on arrival. The coach stations are for picking passengers up; set-down normally takes place on the controlled kerbside lanes in front of each terminal. Cars with driver (VTC) need a passenger booking voucher, a driver badge and a vehicle sticker, and may enter only when the flight is on approach; at Terminal 1 they wait in the 'Parking Pro' in front of the terminal (up to 1 hour), and at Terminal 2 they pick up at the coach station, doors A3/A4.
Coach parking and access
- A coach may stay at a coach station for at most 1 hour, with the engine off and the driver beside the vehicle; charges apply to coaches of 10 seats or more. When the bays are full, coaches wait in an overflow area (zone de délestage) at the entrance of the Terminal 2 coach station, which can also be reserved for events needing several coaches at once. Occasional vehicles, for example for a congress, apply to the airport at least 48 hours ahead to set down on the kerbside lanes, with no parking there. The public drop-off zones are for private vehicles only.
Road to the city centre
- about 10 km by road to Place Masséna, about 20-25 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Into Nice
Place Masséna is about 10 km away, roughly 20 to 25 minutes with light traffic. The Nice low-emission zone covers the seafront and the centre and applies to buses and coaches: Crit'Air 4, Crit'Air 5 and unclassified coaches cannot enter. The rules may change, so check the coach's sticker before travel.
Tourist coaches are barred from the Promenade des Anglais unless they hold a waiver. Proof of a booked service, such as the hotel, is the usual basis. Nice has 64 coach stops, mostly in front of hotels, with a 30-minute limit. After setting down, the coach goes to a coach park. The MIN coach park near the airport and the A8 has 67 spaces and must be booked at least 48 hours ahead.
Heading along the coast
The A8 is free through Nice but tolled west towards Cannes, at the Antibes barrier, and east towards Monaco, at La Turbie. Monaco-Ville is closed to vehicles registered outside Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes, so plan a walk up from the coach park.
Organisers ask
Can the coach wait while the group clears passport control?
Within limits. A coach may stay up to one hour in the coach station, engine off. If a flight is badly delayed, the coach may have to leave and come back.
Is the tram an option for a small group?
Tram line 2 serves both terminals and reaches Jean Médecin in under 30 minutes. With luggage and a group, a coach or minibus to the hotel door is easier.
Our hotel is on the Promenade des Anglais. Can the coach get there?
Only with a waiver, given on proof of a booked service such as the hotel. Send the hotel name with the request, as the waiver needs that proof.
