Lille airport coach transfers: the regulated drop-off area and beyond
Lille airport, at Lesquin, is small and close to the city. Coaches use a barrier-controlled area kept for professional vehicles, so gather the group before the coach is called.
Where coaches stop
Coaches use the regulated drop-off area, a barrier-controlled zone for taxis, public transport, coaches and similar vehicles. Pedestrians may not use the drop-off ramps, so the group walks to the coach by the signed route.
The car park for occasional and chauffeur-driven transport is temporarily unavailable, and its users are sent to car park P2. P2 has a 1.90 m height limit, and taller vehicles call an agent on the intercom. P1 and P6 have no height limit. The airport publishes no coach park or waiting time.

Into Lille
The Grand-Place is about 18 km by road, around 25 minutes with clear roads. The Métropole Européenne de Lille low-emission zone covers all 95 communes and the main roads through them, including the A1, at all hours. It bans unclassified vehicles registered before 1 January 1997, coaches included, and every vehicle must display a Crit'Air sticker. Police officers carry out checks. Check the rules before travel.
Coaches may stop for a few minutes on the Place Rihour to set down or pick up. Free coach parking is on the Esplanade du Champ de Mars, about 25 spaces, except during the Braderie. The next Braderie is on 4 and 5 September 2027.
Where the coach collects the group
- Coaches use the regulated drop-off area (dépose-minute réglementée), a barrier-controlled area reserved for taxis, public transport, coaches and similar vehicles; pedestrians may not use the drop-off ramps. Cars with driver (VTC) carrying a booking, registered and showing the VTC sticker, may use car park P2 'Facilité'; waiting or cruising for customers without a booking is forbidden on the airport.
Coach parking and access
- The airport does not publish a coach park or a coach waiting time. The commercial shuttle and drop-off car park for chauffeur-driven and occasional transport (badge access, at most 1 hour) is temporarily unavailable, and its users are sent to car park P2.
Road to the city centre
- about 18 km by road to the Grand-Place, about 25 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
Remembrance and school trips
Lille is a common base for First World War visits. Vimy is about 47 km from the city and Ypres, across the Belgian border, about 40 km. Louvre-Lens is about 40 minutes away; coaches drop off in the museum park and park in Liévin.
For school groups, pupils keep belts fastened wherever seats have them, and the coach driver does not count as a supervisor.
Flying into Paris instead
Some groups land at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and come north by road. That is about 198 km, about 2 h 5 in light traffic, on the toll A1. Count it in the driver's day.
Organisers ask
Can the coach wait at the airport?

Is there a shuttle to the city?
Yes. The airport shuttle reaches central Lille in about 20 minutes, stopping near Lille Flandres station.
Can the coach take us to Belgium?
