Coach Hire with a Driver in Reims
A Reims trip usually has two halves: the cathedral and city, then the cellars and vineyards. The coach rules differ between them, and so does the planning.
Inside the ring of boulevards
The Grand Reims ZFE-m dates from 2021. It takes in everything inside the inner ring of boulevards, from Lundy and Paix round to Joffre, plus part of the A344, and coaches are covered. Banned: unclassified vehicles, Crit'Air 5 and Crit'Air 4. Crit'Air 3 stays allowed until 2029, when its postponed ban is due.
Reims publishes no official coach set-down in its centre, so the driver or the operator settles where to stop for the cathedral and the Palais du Tau. Recheck the zone rule with Grand Reims shortly before the trip.

Cellars and Épernay
Every champagne house visit needs a booking; the tourist office calls it essential at peak times. Group size is the catch: some houses only take small parties. Before you plan a full coach, ask each house its limit, or split the group across two houses.
Épernay's coach meeting point is Rue Jean Moët: a handful of bays, laid out so the doors open on the right, steps from the Avenue de Champagne. Épernay and Hautvillers are both roughly half an hour by car from Reims.

Rules for coaches in Reims
- Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is about 141 km by road from Reims cathedral, about 1 h 45 min in light traffic. The tourist office notes that TGV trains link CDG and Reims in about 30 minutes.
- Trains arrive at Gare de Reims (Reims-Centre), in the city centre, and at Gare Champagne-Ardenne TGV at Bezannes, which is linked to the centre by tram. TGV trains from Paris take about 45 minutes.
- Grand Reims has had a low-emission zone (ZFE-m) since 2021, inside the inner ring of boulevards (Lundy, Paix, Pasteur, Victor Hugo, Dieu Lumière, Docteur Henri Henrot, Paul Doumer, Louis Roederer and Joffre) and on part of the A344 urban motorway. It covers cars, vans, heavy vehicles, buses and coaches. Crit'Air 4, Crit'Air 5 and unclassified vehicles are banned; the ban on Crit'Air 3 vehicles was postponed to 2029. These rules change, so check them with Grand Reims before travel.
- Épernay: Rue Jean Moët has a few coach parking spaces with doors on the right-hand side of the vehicle, a few metres from the Avenue de Champagne and the town centre; the tourist office describes them as the meeting point for coach groups.
- Champagne house visits must be booked in advance, especially in high season. Some houses take only small groups, so check group size before planning a full coach group.
- Reims is at the crossing of the A4 (Paris to Strasbourg) and the A26 (Calais to Troyes), both toll motorways (autoroutes à péage); six exits serve the city.
Bringing the group in
By road, CDG is roughly 141 km away, about 1 h 45 by car in light traffic. Yet the TGV from the airport reaches Reims in about half an hour, the tourist office notes. A coach meeting that train can beat a coach from the terminal.
Gare de Reims is in the centre; Champagne-Ardenne TGV is at Bezannes, linked by tram. TGVs from Paris take about 45 minutes. Reims sits where the A4 and the A26 cross, and both are toll motorways.
Longer days and events
Château-Thierry is about 45 minutes by car, Verdun and Disneyland Paris about 1 h 20, Troyes about 1 h 25. A full-size coach needs more time than those car figures.
For a congress, Reims Congrès has the 720-seat Salle Royale and is about 5 minutes on foot from the historic centre. Reims Expo has large free car parks, about 8 minutes from the TGV station.
Organisers ask
Can a Crit'Air 3 coach enter central Reims?
Under the current rules, yes: that ban has been put back to 2029. Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles are barred. Check again before you go.
Where does the coach stop for the cathedral?
There is no official drop-off point in the centre. The driver or the operator agrees the stop when the route is planned.
What counts as a group at the cathedral?
Guided group visits start from 20 paying adults. Buying tickets in advance is encouraged.
