Coach Rental Across France

Coach transfers for cruise passengers

A cruise transfer depends on the port. At Marseille and Le Havre the ship docks. At Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cannes, passengers come ashore by tender and the coach meets them near the landing.

Marseille: Gate 4 or J4

Most ships berth at the Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal. The coach leaves the A55 at exit 5, 'Les Ports', and enters by the port's Gate 4. Motorway surrounds the terminals, so nobody walks out; the coach collects at the terminal. Marseille Provence airport is about 21 km away.

Terminal J4 is the exception. It sits beside the Vieux-Port and passengers walk into town. Keep the city-centre rules in mind: since November 2025, Le Panier and the north side of the Vieux-Port are closed to tourist coaches.

Le Havre: the Paris port of call

The Pointe de Floride terminal is about 2.5 km from Le Havre's centre, but central Paris is about 197 km by road. A car takes about 2 h 25 min in light traffic; a coach and the Paris rush take longer. A ship-to-Paris-and-back day is long for one driver, so the breaks go into the timetable from the start.

Rules organisers should know

  • In Marseille, the cruise terminals of the Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal are reached through Gate 4 of the port, from exit 5 'Les Ports' of the A55
  • Villefranche-sur-Mer is a tender port: passengers land at the gare maritime of Port de la Santé, within walking distance of the railway station

Tender ports on the Riviera

At Villefranche-sur-Mer, the tenders come in to Port de la Santé, where the gare maritime is a short walk from the railway station. In Cannes the landing is at the Vieux-Port, next door to the Palais des Festivals. The city lets no more than 6,000 cruise passengers ashore per day, so big calls are spread out.

Organisers ask

What if the tender runs late?

Tender times depend on the sea and the ship. Give the ship's name and the planned time ashore, and leave slack before the first coach departs.

Can the transfer link the port and the airport?

Yes. Marseille Provence airport lies roughly 21 km from Gate 4. Nice Côte d'Azur is about 15 km from Villefranche and about 29 km from Cannes.

Which coach rules apply in the port cities?

Central Marseille bars Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles at all hours. Nice restricts coaches in the same classes. Cannes has no zone, but keeps tourist coaches of Euro IV standard or older out of the whole commune.
