Coach Hire in Nantes with a Driver
Nantes publishes a drop-off point for each main sight, with a 30-minute limit. Match every visit to its point and the day runs to time.
Which kerb for which visit
The points come from Le Voyage à Nantes, which runs the tourist office. For the Château, rue Henri IV, a delivery bay where drop-off is allowed. For the cathedral, Place du Maréchal-Foch, which is hard to use during the April and September fairs. For the Musée d'arts, rue Gambetta. For the Machines de l'île, Boulevard de la Prairie-au-Duc, which has long works in 2026.
Thirty minutes is enough to unload a full coach, not to wait for stragglers. At the Stade de la Beaujoire, the set-down is car park no. 5, on the stadium's north side.

Where the coach waits
The Gare Sud coach station, on the south side of the railway station, takes tourist coaches for paid parking. Book no less than 72 hours ahead; it opens 04:30–00:30. A 20-space car park sits on Boulevard de Seattle nearby, and on the Île de Nantes, by the Hangar à Bananes, 13 spaces are free with no time limit.
Authorised coach spaces are marked on the ground and signed. Send the operator your visit order, so the driver can plan the shortest loop between each drop-off and the parking.

Rules for coaches in Nantes
- Aéroport Nantes Atlantique (NTE) is about 13 km by road from the Château des ducs de Bretagne, about 20 min in light traffic.
- Trains arrive at Gare de Nantes, close to the Château and the Jardin des Plantes; the north exit leads to tram line 1 and the city centre, the south exit to the Cité des Congrès. The coach station on the south side of the station (Gare Sud) also takes tourist coaches for paid parking, booked at least 72 hours ahead; it is open from 04:30 to 00:30.
- Nantes Métropole has had a low-emission zone (ZFE) inside the ring road (périphérique) since 1 January 2025. It applies only at peak hours (07:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 19:00) from Monday to Friday, except public holidays. Unclassified vehicles are banned at those times, including heavy vehicles first registered before 1 October 2001, and a Crit'Air sticker is required. These rules change, so check them with Nantes Métropole before travel.
- Le Voyage à Nantes (the tourist office) lists coach drop-off points with a 30-minute limit, including: Boulevard de la Prairie-au-Duc for the Machines de l'île (long works in 2026), rue Henri IV for the Château (a delivery bay where drop-off is allowed), Place du Maréchal-Foch for the cathedral (difficult during the April and September fairs) and rue Gambetta for the Musée d'arts. For the Stade de la Beaujoire, coaches drop off at car park no. 5 on the north side.
- For coach parking it lists the Gare Sud coach station (booked ahead), a 20-space car park on Boulevard de Seattle near the station, and free parking with no time limit on the Île de Nantes near the Hangar à Bananes (13 spaces). Authorised coach spaces are shown by markings on the ground and by signs.
- Nantes is linked to Angers and Paris by the A11 (L'Océane), a toll motorway (autoroute à péage).
A ZFE that works to the clock
Nantes Métropole's zone covers the area inside the périphérique, but only on weekdays, between 07:00 and 09:00 and again between 16:00 and 19:00, and never on a public holiday. During those windows, unclassified vehicles may not enter, heavy vehicles first registered before 1 October 2001 included.
A sticker is also required. A weekday school or works outing that reaches the centre at 08:30 falls inside the morning window. Have the coach's Crit'Air class confirmed, and look up the métropole's rule again before the date.
Airport, bookings and day trips
Nantes Atlantique airport is about 13 km from the Château, around 20 minutes by car in light traffic. The Château des ducs de Bretagne must be booked for groups of 5 or more, and the Machines de l'île at least 20 days ahead.
Clisson is about 40 minutes by car; Angers and the Puy du Fou are just over the hour. The A11, L'Océane, to Angers and Paris is a toll motorway. The Mont-Saint-Michel coach park is about 195 km, close to 2 h 30 by car, which makes a long return day for one driver.
Organisers ask

Not during 2027: the whole building closes from February to December for renovation, with reopening planned for January 2028. The Parc des Expositions at La Beaujoire is the other large venue.
Is Gare Sud open for a dawn departure?
It opens at 04:30 and closes at 00:30. Coach parking there must be booked at least 72 hours ahead.
