Lyon-Saint Exupéry coach transfers: the TGV station car park and the run into Lyon
At Lyon-Saint Exupéry the group coach is not at the terminal kerb. It meets the group at the TGV station, a short walk away over the footbridge.
Meeting at the station
Occasional coaches set down and pick up at the Parking Minute Gare TGV, the drop-off car park of the railway station. Private cars share it. The TGV station is about 2 minutes on foot from Terminals 1 and 2 by the connecting footbridge, so tell the group to follow the signs for the station.
Entry is charged from the first minute. The maximum stay is four hours, but a stop of under ten minutes is advised. The coach therefore arrives once the group is through baggage reclaim, not at the landing time.

Why not the terminal drop-off?
The public Parkings Minute at Terminal 1 are for private individuals, and the one at the terminals has a 2.60 m height limit. A coach does not fit. For some events with several coaches, car park P2 bis is used instead.
Where the coach collects the group
- Occasional (pre-booked) coaches set down and pick up at the 'Parking Minute Gare TGV', the drop-off car park at the TGV station, which is shared between private users and occasional coaches; entry is charged from the first minute. Car park P2 bis is used for some events with coaches. Cars with driver (VTC) use the 'PRO' car park, reserved for pre-booked services (taxis on booking, VTC and off-airport car park shuttles), sold as annual passes online.
Coach parking and access
- In the Parking Minute Gare TGV the maximum stay is 4 hours, with a stay of under 10 minutes advised; the charge depends on the type of vehicle. The PRO car park allows stays of up to 4 hours. Regular coach lines use the coach station, which needs an access application.
Road to the city centre
- about 30 km by road to Place Bellecour, about 35 min in light traffic; longer at peak times
On the road into Lyon
Place Bellecour is about 30 km by road, mostly on the A43 and A432: about 35 minutes with the roads clear, longer at peak times. The A43 is free until the toll plaza at Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, and the A432 is tolled in parts.
The Lyon low-emission zone applies around the clock, every day, to driving and parking. It bans heavy vehicles rated Crit'Air 3, 4, 5 or unrated, and Lyon counts coaches as heavy vehicles. Every vehicle in the zone shows a sticker. Rules may change, so the booked coach's sticker is checked when you confirm.
Hotel and old-town stops
Coach stops in the city are free and cannot be booked. Place Bellecour has one at no. 19, on the east side. For Vieux Lyon, coaches stop on the quays, at 13 quai Romain Rolland and 24 quai Fulchiron. The Presqu'île limited-traffic zone stays open to tourist coaches; from 13:00 to 06:00 the driver uses the intercom at the bollards.
Ski and mountain transfers
From 1 November to 31 March, vehicles in Haute-Savoie, coaches included, need winter tyres or must carry chains. Check that the coach is equipped before booking a winter run to Annecy or Chamonix.
Organisers ask
Can the coach pick up at Terminal 1?
No. Occasional coaches use the Parking Minute Gare TGV. The terminal drop-off zones are for private cars and too low for a coach.
Is Rhônexpress quicker?
It reaches Lyon Part-Dieu Villette in under 30 minutes, every 15 minutes in the daytime. For a group with luggage going to a hotel, a coach avoids the change at Part-Dieu.
How early should we book for a large event?
As early as you can, with the number of coaches and arrival waves. Car park P2 bis is used for some events with coaches.
