Marseille Provence coach transfers: book the coach park a week ahead

Marseille Provence keeps its coach station for scheduled buses. A group coach parks elsewhere, and the space has to be requested at least seven days before the flight.

The Parc Croisiéristes

Occasional coaches park outside the coach station in the 'Parc Croisiéristes' coach car park. The request goes in at least seven days ahead. Book the coach early enough for the operator to meet that deadline, especially in the cruise season.

The airport's group-reception service places coach parking facing Terminal 1. Baggage staff can carry luggage between the coach park and check-in. For a school group or an older party, ask about it when you book.

Two terminals, one coach

The terminals are about six minutes apart on foot. If the group arrives on flights at both, gather everyone at Terminal 1 before walking to the coach. The coach station is not an alternative: stops there are limited to 20 minutes and kept for regular services.

Where the coach collects the group

  • Occasional (pre-booked) coaches do not use the airport coach station, which is reserved for regular bus services; they park outside it in the 'Parc Croisiéristes' coach car park, requested at least 7 days ahead. The airport's group-reception service places coach parking facing Terminal 1, and baggage staff can carry luggage between the coach park and check-in. Cars with driver (VTC) need an airport activity and parking authorisation (allow at least 2 months to obtain it) and must carry only pre-booked clients; they use either the 'Dépose Express' lane (up to 15 minutes a visit, up to 10 visits a day) or car parks PA and PB (up to 1 hour a visit, charged).

Coach parking and access

  • The coach station between Terminals 1 and 2 has 12 bays and is open around the clock for regular services; inside it a stop, including boarding and alighting, is limited to 20 minutes, holding takes place in a back-up area, and engines must be off for any stop over 5 minutes. No space is guaranteed for VTC.

Road to the city centre

  • about 26 km by road to the Vieux-Port, about 30 min in light traffic; longer at peak times

The road into Marseille

The Vieux-Port is about 26 km away, about 30 minutes when traffic is light. The Prado-Carénage tunnel takes light vehicles only, so coaches use the surface roads. Allow for that at peak times.

Marseille's low-emission zone covers about 19.5 km² of the centre and applies to coaches at all hours. Coaches rated Crit'Air 4 or 5, or without a sticker, may neither drive nor park inside. Rules can change: check the booked coach's sticker before travel.

Where a coach can stop in town

Since an order of 14 November 2025, Le Panier and the north side of the Vieux-Port are closed to tourist coaches. Official set-down points include avenue Vaudoyer, opposite the Musée Regards de Provence, and 18 boulevard Montricher, from 08:30 to 19:00. For Notre-Dame de la Garde, coaches stop at the Montée de l'Oratoire. Coaches over 13.50 m are barred from rue d'Endoume, so length matters on that hill.

Organisers ask

We only booked yesterday. Is it too late?

Not always, but the coach park request needs seven days. Ask us straight away; the operator will say what can still be arranged.

Is there a train link?

A five-minute shuttle bus runs from coach station bay 5 to Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence station, and bus A1 runs to Saint-Charles. With a group and luggage, a coach is simpler.

Can the coach drop us on the Vieux-Port?

Not on the north side or in Le Panier. Use an official set-down point such as avenue Vaudoyer and walk from there.
