Coach Hire in Cannes: Rules Before Routes
Cannes has no low-emission zone, yet it is among the strictest towns in France for coaches. A municipal order decides which coaches may enter, which roads they use and where they may stop.
Euro V or newer, on set routes
Since 31 October 2023, no tourist coach built to Euro IV or an earlier standard may enter any part of the commune. Coaches arrive by the A8 exits 41 (Cannes-La Bocca) or 42 (Mougins) and follow the city's coach route map. They may not use the high-quality bus lanes. Ask for the Euro standard in writing.

La Croisette is for set-down only
Coaches may not drive on La Croisette, boulevard du Midi-Louise Moreau or boulevard Gazagnaire unless they hold authorisation to set down or collect passengers there. The operator requests it through the city's procedure, which also covers parking. Engines go off when stopped.
In the Croix des Gardes district coaches are barred, though anything with 20 seats or fewer is allowed. For a small group staying there, a minibus solves the problem.

Rules for coaches in Cannes
- Aéroport Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE) is about 29 km by road from the Palais des Festivals, about 35-40 min in light traffic and longer at peak times. The Aéroport Cannes-Mandelieu, for business aviation, is about 15 minutes away.
- Cannes is outside the Nice Côte d'Azur low-emission zone and has no ZFE of its own in October 2026. However, a municipal order of 30 June 2023 bans tourist coaches of the Euro IV standard or older from the whole commune since 31 October 2023. Check the rules before travel.
- Under the same order, tourist coaches must follow the city's coach route map from the A8 exits 41 (Cannes-La Bocca) and 42 (Mougins), may not use the high-quality bus lanes, and may not drive on the seafront roads (boulevard du Midi-Louise Moreau, La Croisette, boulevard Gazagnaire) except to set down or pick up passengers with authorisation. Engines must be switched off when stopped.
- The roads through the Croix des Gardes district are closed to coaches; vehicles with 20 seats or fewer may use them. Operators must follow the city's procedure to request the right to park or to set down and pick up passengers.
- The Parking Laubeuf coach park (25 spaces) on Quai Laubeuf, about 5 minutes' walk from the Palais des Festivals and next to the Lérins ferries, is closed for renovation in October 2026.
- Gare de Cannes: in the city centre, about 6 minutes' walk from the Palais des Festivals, served by TGV trains from Paris and by regional trains along the coast.
- Cannes is reached by the A8 motorway (La Provençale), a tolled motorway; the Antibes toll barrier lies between Cannes and Nice.
- EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest.
Parking near the port
The Laubeuf coach park on Quai Laubeuf, 25 spaces beside the boats to the Îles de Lérins, is closed for renovation. Until it reopens, agree with the operator where the coach waits between drop and pickup.
The crossing to Sainte-Marguerite or Saint-Honorat takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Le Suquet and the Musée des Explorations du Monde take group bookings through the tourist office.
Congresses and the coast
From the station, served by TGVs from Paris, the Palais des Festivals is a walk of about six minutes. In May the Festival de Cannes fills the town, so plan coach movements around it. Grasse is about 30 minutes inland, Saint-Paul-de-Vence about 35 and Monaco about an hour. The A8 is tolled, with the Antibes barrier between Cannes and Nice.
Organisers ask
How far is Nice airport?
About 29 km from the Palais des Festivals, roughly 35 to 40 minutes in light traffic. Cannes-Mandelieu, for business aviation, is about 15 minutes away.
Can the coach park on La Croisette during an event?
No. It may only set down or pick up there, with authorisation, and must then move on.
Is Saint-Tropez a sensible day trip?
It is about 89 km and 1 hour 30 by car, longer by coach in summer traffic. Leave early and keep the programme light.
Where does the coach wait during a Lérins crossing?
Not on Quai Laubeuf while that coach park is shut. Fix the return pickup time before the group boards, and the driver waits wherever the operator has arranged.
